In today’s post I wanted to share something very close to my heart with you.
I was recently invited to write a guest blog post for Sue Ryder which has gone live on their national website today.
The blog post which can be viewed by clicking here documents the time we spent as a family at Leckhampton Court Hospice while my Dad was cared for in his final days. It’s a very personal insight into an emotive subject and I’d love you to read it.

It’s so important to find joy in even the darkest hour but so very hard some days. The staff at Sue Ryder are amazing and provide such love and care to all their residents and that is extended to their families. We will be forever grateful that we got to experience that for 2 days with Mum. Our grief experience would have been so much more devastating without their love and support. I find it staggering that there are only 16 beds for the whole county and they receive no NHS funding. It’s wonderful that sharing stories has the power to inform and raise funds for them to continue their work.
I’m glad you have your photos to remind you of your special last Christmas and birthday with your Dad. My memories of Leckhampton Court are of sunshine in the garden and when we visited a few months later it was startling to see how different the garden is in the Autumn. A gentle reminder that life goes on regardless.
