For the third post in my Mumma Reviews series I was kindly asked to review a photobook from Saal Digital UK. If you saw my recent blog post featuring Popbook Photobooks then you’ll know that I love a good photo album!
More comprehensive than the traditional photo book websites, Saal Digital UK offers professional photo products in high-end quality. So, I was excited to see if the quality of my photo book lived up to my expectations.
I chose to sample the 15 x 21 photo book with 26 gloss pages and a gloss hardback cover – the perfect size for our little girl. There are so many sizes, designs and prices you’re sure to be able to find something within budget.
If you like to use Photoshop, QuarkXpress or InDesign you have the option to design your own photobook using these programs. Alternatively, using their Pro-Upload function you can upload your chosen images and then edit them using the Saal Digital software which is accessed by way of free download from the website. I’m pleased to say the download was quick and easy to use.
I liked being able to sample and select different themes for my photo book – I eventually settled on ‘Julia’ which was a sophisticated pink star theme – and I found that the software was easy to navigate. I took advantage of Saal’s AutoLayout feature which automatically places your images on to the pages. Then, I simply adjusted the images to centre them and reordered them to ensure the flow was right on each page.
If you are short on time you can even try their new One Minute Photobook design function in their webshop which allows you to complete your photobook online without the need for a download.
Delivery was also quicker than I anticipated. My photobook was delivered by DHL and I was sent timely updates whilst it made its way to me to ensure I wouldn’t miss its arrival.
The photobook itself is exactly what I hoped it would be – it looks professional with thick, glossy pages and a beautiful star theme running through it. I also loved the fact that Saal Digital UK only include a tiny barcode on their photobooks so the back cover isn’t spoiled by garish advertising. I’m delighted with the photobook and it will make a lovely keepsake for Thrifty Bubba.
